On the Job Training is just that.  After being hired either in the private or public sector, an employee is trained to work in a specific field.  By learning specific skills, essential to the performance of the job, an employee is able to learn valuable workforce skills and experience.

Work Experience is a short-term or part-time work assignment at an employing agency or an  organization.

The Classroom Training program activity is any training of the type normally conducted in an institutional setting, including vocational education, and designed to provide individuals with the technical skills and information required to perform a specific job or group of jobs. It may be coupled with other employment and training activities and may also include training designed to enhance employability of individuals by upgrading basic skills, through the provision of courses such as remedial education, GED, training in the primary language of persons with limited English speaking proficiency, or English-as-a-second- language training.

Job Search Skills and Human Development is designed to specifically provide the enrollee with the knowledge and skills to ensure and maintain a job

This program helps promote the growth and stability of local government agencies and businesses by paying the salaries of workers in training or half of the salaries of the workers enrolled in on the job training.  The staff works closely with area industries and employers to keep informed on job openings and placement opportunities.

The Workforce Investment Act Program of LRDA has served as a leader in providing employment and training opportunities for over 25 years.  Since 1973, LRDA has sponsored various federally funded employment and training programs that have had a total impact on many thousands of people.  Over the years, the Employment and Training program has been recognized for outstanding services and accomplishments.  The program and its staff have helped many Indian people to get an entry level job and begin a successful career.

Funding: Programs are funded by the United States Department of Labor, Office of Indian and Native American Programs. Programs are administered at the national level.
