Woodell Family

The above photo is of the Woodell Family in the early 1900's. From left to right:  Luke Woodell, Nancy Oxendine Woodell (born September 1867), Sam Woodell, and Robert Woodell.   Their house was located in the Union Chapel Community!

Red Man's Lodge

In the early 1920's, in an attempt to covertly continue their religion and culture, the Indians of Robeson County created the Red Man's Lodge - a group of American Indian men from this area which secretly practiced rites, rituals, and culture practices of the traditional people of the area.

Robeson County Schoolhouse

Robeson County Schoolhouse.  This a the restored version of the old style of  one room school houses typical of Robeson County.

Croatan Normal School

Croatan Normal School.  Started in 1887 with 15 students, this school was designed to educate Indians of Robeson County.

Prospect Church

Prospect Methodist Church

Thought to be the largest American Indian church in North America.
